Basil Leaves

Basil

These oval-shaped, aromatic leaves are a popular flavoring choice in the culinary world—from meats and sauces to salads and teas. They provide a sweet and savory flavor with a delicate yet noticeable peppery taste. There are over 60 varieties, but some of the most common include sweet basil, Thai basil, cinnamon basil and purple basil. Basil is believed to have anti-inflammatory properties. Plus, it’s a natural source of beta-caryophyllene and vitamins K, C and A.

Dill Sprig

Dill

A member of the parsley family, this aromatic herb provides an earthy, grass-like flavor with a touch of sweetness. It was first used as a medicinal herb by the Egyptians over 5,000 years ago, then became popular in Greek culture for everything from home fragrances to making wines. While dill is well-known for giving pickles their distinct flavor, this herb pairs well with lemon and can also be used in soups, sauces, dips, butters and cheeses.

Thyme Sprigs

Thyme

There’s always time for thyme! As a member of the mint family, Lamiaceae, this herb has a rich cultural history that dates back to ancient Egypt and Greece. It provides an earthy and herby flavor that’s both savory and sweet with a hint of lemon. Fresh or dried, thyme leaves are full of antioxidants and can be used in a variety of dishes, including roasted vegetables, soups and sauces, or even as a pizza topping.
