Silver Bell Sweet Turnip
A sweet
turnip that is perfect for fall planting and harvesting.
Fast to mature, this variety produces wonderful
sweet turnips and top quality, mild turnip greens.
Plant in late summer or early fall, the turnip
is ready in 50 days also. Avoid insect damage
by covering the crop with a floating row cover.
Boiled Turnips
- 2 Silver Bell Sweet Turnips
- 2 T. butter
- parsley
- dill weed
- garlic salt & white pepper
Peel the
skin of turnips and cut into cubes. Cook until
tender, 10 minutes. Drain. Toss with butter and
small amount of parsley and dill weed. Add garlic
salt and white pepper to taste.
Steamed Turnip Greens
- 4 C. Turnip Greens
- 1 T. extra virgin olive oil
- 1 T. balsamic vinegar
- 3 cloves crushed garlic
- salt
Cut turnip
greens into 2” sections. Salt to taste. Steam
turnip greens just until they clasp (approx. 5
minutes). Mix in all other ingredients. Serve
hot or cold.
