For existing beds, combine GrowMix with the top 6" of soil and then plant your starts or seeds. If you're transplanting, mix it with existing soil from the new plant hole.

You can use GrowMix straight from the bag in your outdoor planters. For new plantings, start by putting some GrowMix in the bottom of the container, set your plant so the base of the stem is even with or just below the rim of the container, and then fill in around the sides with GrowMix. After watering, you may need to top off the container with a little more GrowMix.

To create GrowMix, produce trimmings and other "green waste" are taken from Fred Meyer Stores and spread out so millions of earthworms can get to work on it to produce castings -- a process called vermicomposting.
