Panola Panache!
Innovated
by Waller Seed, the Panola Panache
F1 hybrid gives you the best of
both Pansies and Violas. Panolas have the
free flowering characteristics of Violas
but with larger flowers. Seven stunning
colors present flowers 1½" to 2"
across. Plants are compact with short flower
stems to reliably present blooms even under
the rainiest days and warmest springs. In
mass plantings, plant them about 8" apart.
Light requirement:
A cool, yet full sun location suits Panola
Panache.
Plants are very winter hardy and will flower
until the worst summer heat makes them dormant.
Water and fertilizer:
Panache, like Violas, will tolerate just
about any soil. However, best growth occurs
in good, fertile flower beds. Composts and
mulches help keep the soil moist and warmer
in the winter. Be sure to combat slugs and
snails on a regular schedule. Use any quality
garden fertilizer for vigorous growth and
flowering.
Suggested
uses: Ideal in flower beds and
patio containers.

While much of the information
in this tip is applicable in several gardening
zones/climates, some of the plants and timing
suggested are best suited to the Northwest,
generally in the mild/wet growing regions
found along the I-5 corridor. You should
make appropriate adjustments or consult
local gardening experts in regions whose
climates differ from this area of the Northwest.
