A
breakthrough hybrid of a traditional
garden favorite. "Devotion" brings
elegant foliage and clouds of graceful
blossoms surrounding a large central
umbel. Three colors extend the garden
and cutting use and bring a light,
pleasant fragrance to bouquets.
Light
requirement: A cool, yet
full sun location suits "Devotion".
Avoid planting in hot areas or in
drying winds as the flower size and
production will be reduced. Older
flowers may be cut off to encourage
continued flowering.
Water
and fertilizer: Tracheliums
excel in a light and well drained
soil. Composts and mulches help to
keep the soil moist for best growth.
The plant uses lots of water to open
so many flowers. Use any quality garden
fertilizer for bushy, vigorous growth.
Suggested
uses: Flower beds, Patio
containers, and as temporary indoor
pot plants.
While
much of the information in this tip
is applicable in several gardening
zones/climates, some of the plants
and timing suggested are best suited
to the Northwest, generally in the
mild/wet growing regions found along
the I-5 corridor. You should make
appropriate adjustments or consult
local gardening experts in regions
whose climates differ from this area
of the Northwest.
