"Limerock Ruby"
- Abundant
1-1/2" daisy-like flowers
- In full sun,
blooms all summer and into the first
cooler days of fall
Coreopsis
Limerock Ruby was first
found by a nursery grower in Lincoln,
RI, who believes it to be a natural
cross between unknown Coreopsis seedlings.
Limerock Ruby features
abundant, large 1-1/2-inch daisy-like
flowers in ruby red with yellow centers...
This is a real find as red
is one of the scarcer colors
in summer perennials, especially
in lower-growing continuous flowering
forms.
Blooms
are supported on near formal plants
with foliage much like Coreopsis "Moonbeam".
In full sun, Limerock Ruby blooms
all summer and well into the first
cooler days of fall.
This
plant is airy, upright, mounding and
has overwintered successfully and
unprotected down to -4 degrees. Give
Coreopsis Limerock Ruby a try in your
garden this year.
While
much of the information in this tip
is applicable in several gardening
zones/climates, some of the plants
and timing suggested are best suited
to the Northwest, generally in the
mild/wet growing regions found along
the I-5 corridor. You should make
appropriate adjustments or consult
local gardening experts in regions
whose climates differ from this area
of the Northwest.
