Blue
Showers Bacopa
Gardeners
all over have made White Bacopa one of the
favorite container and hanging basket plants
introduced in the last ten years. But have
you seen the striking blue form of this
most popular plant? Blue Showers lives up
to its name with cascading sheets of vigorous
foliage and blue flowers.
Light
requirement: Excels in conditions
from full sun to light shade. The plants
will be more compact and bloom-rich when
planted in sunny spots, or look softer and
have larger leaves in more shady areas.
Water
and fertilizer: Bacopas respond
to good care with abundant growth and flowers.
Your hanging baskets should be checked for
water needs daily during the summer and
fertilized weekly with any quality soluble
fertilizer to promote vigorous growth and
flowering.
Suggested
uses: Wonderful in hanging baskets
and patio containers. Also great for bedding
borders.
Give
the exciting Blue Showers Bacopa a try this
spring!
While
much of the information in this tip is applicable
in several gardening zones/climates, some
of the plants and timing suggested are best
suited to the Northwest, generally in the
mild/wet growing regions found along the
I-5 corridor. You should make appropriate
adjustments or consult local gardening experts
in regions whose climates differ from this
area of the Northwest.
