Your generosity, along with the generosity of Fred Meyer Associates, has helped the Fred Meyer Fund award more than $12.5 million in grants since 1997 in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska.
With your help we awarded nearly $2 million in grants in 2010!
So, how does the fund work?
• One hundred percent of each dollar you give goes to non-profit organizations that serve communities where YOU live and work.
• All administrative costs for the Fund are paid for by the company.
• Most of the fund’s major contributions come from Associates during the Associate Giving Campaign.
•There are three “pots” of money within the Fred Meyer Fund:
- Coin boxes at check stands.
This money stays within your zone, and is donated to the organizations specified on the coin boxes each quarter. These coin boxes raise more than half a million dollars each year!
- “FM Grant Community” pledges from Associates during the annual Associate Giving Campaign.
This money also stays within your zone. It can be granted to the organizations designated on the coin boxes each quarter – providing even larger grants to those organizations – or to other organizations within the same focus area.
- “FM Grants MAJOR” pledges from Associates during the annual Associate Giving Campaign.
This money goes into a pot that is distributed by a committee comprised of the Fred Meyer President, CFO and Director of Sales Promotion and Marketing, who will give grants to organizations with a larger geographic spread that impact the area where Fred Meyer does business.
The Kroger Co. Foundation
Our parent company also supports the communities we serve by donating more than $100,000 to the Fred Meyer Fund every year.
What are the primary focus areas of the Fred Meyer Fund?
