We’re donating $2.5 million each year - up to $625,000 each quarter - to the local schools, community organizations and nonprofits of your choice. All you have to do is link your Rewards Card and use it when you shop at Fred Meyer.

Whenever you use your Rewards Card when shopping at Freddy’s, you will be helping that organization earn a donation from Fred Meyer. What is Community Rewards?

It is the latest addition to the Fred Meyer Rewards Program where you can earn donations for your favorite nonprofit just by shopping with your Rewards Card. Fred Meyer will donate $2.5 million to nonprofits in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington in 2014 through this new program. Here's how it works:

  • Link your Rewards Card to your favorite nonprofit at www.fredmeyer.com/communityrewards.
  • Whenever you use your Rewards card when shopping at Freddy's, you’ll be helping the nonprofit linked to your Rewards Card to earn a donation from Fred Meyer.
  • At the end of each quarter, Fred Meyer will make a donation to participating nonprofits based on the accumulated spending of the Rewards customers linked to each nonprofit.
  • Fred Meyer will donate $625,000 each quarter via Community Rewards!

Do I still get Rewards Points, Fuel Points and Rebates?

YES! Rewards Customers still get the Rewards Points, Fuel Points and Rebates.

Why is Fred Meyer moving to Community Rewards?

For years, the decision about which organizations Fred Meyer supported rested with a small group of employees. It wasn't transparent, nor was it necessarily the best thing for our communities. Now you can tell us where to donate our money! You can link your Rewards Cards to the nonprofit you believe is doing the most good in your community, and we'll direct donations to those organizations.

How do I link my Rewards Card to a nonprofit?

You can link your Rewards Card online at fredmeyer.com/communityrewards. You will be asked to log into your online account or create an online account. At that point you will be able to search for your nonprofit. This is an ongoing program and you may enroll at any time.

What if I don't have a Fred Meyer Rewards Card?

Applications for Rewards Cards are available at all registers or the Customer Service Desk at any Fred Meyer store.

How much can an organization earn?

Every time you shop with your linked Rewards Card at Fred Meyer, you're helping your favorite non-profit earn a donation. And, the more supporters who link their Rewards Cards to a non-profit, the more that non-profit could earn.

  • Fred Meyer will award a total of $625,000 each quarter to eligible participating organizations.
  • The minimum quarterly payout is $25 per organization. If an organization earns less than $25 in a quarter, Fred Meyer will hold the amount until the donation exceeds $25 or the end of the year, whichever is first.

How will I know how much I am contributing to my organization?

You can view your Community Rewards contribution in your account at fredmeyer.com/rewards. If you want to learn how much your favorite nonprofit has been awarded from Fred Meyer, you'll need to check with that nonprofit.

What if I don’t see my favorite nonprofit on the list when I go to link my Rewards Card?

Any church, school or non-profit with 501 (c) 3 tax exempt status is eligible to participate in Community Rewards. Simply ask your favorite non-profit to go to www.fredmeyer.com/communityrewards and follow instructions to get the organization signed up. Once they’re signed up, you’ll be able to link your card to that organization.

If we have more than one Rewards Card in our household, may we link those cards to different nonprofits?

If you have more than one Rewards Card in your household, they are still all connected by your address. So, Families with more than one Rewards Card within the same household may only donate collectively to one (and the same) non-profit at a time. Two Rewards Cards in the same household will not be able to be linked to two different non-profits.

When does the program start?

You can link your Rewards Card to the non-profit of your choice at any time. Each time you shop at Fred Meyer with your Rewards Card, your shopping will be helping accrue donations for the non-profit to which you’ve linked your card.

How often will the organizations receive donations?

Organizations will receive Community Rewards donation checks within 90 days of the close of each quarter. Quarters end on March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31.

Are any purchases at Fred Meyer stores not eligible for Community Rewards?

Most purchases qualify for Community Rewards, but some items are not eligible. Those exclusions are:

  • Prescriptions
  • Fred Meyer Gift Cards and Kroger Co. Family of Stores Gift Cards
  • Green Dot Prepaid Reloadable Products
  • Bottle deposits
  • Lottery tickets and promotional tickets
  • Money Orders
  • Western Union
  • Fuel
  • Sales tax
  • Tobacco
  • Postage stamps
  • Transit passes
  • Fees
  • Game licenses
  • Phone activation
  • Visa, MasterCard and American Express gift cards and financial variable load gift cards

Can I link my Rewards Card to more than one organization?

You may only link your card to one organization at a time, but you may change the organization as often as you like at fredmeyer.com/communityrewards. However, we recommend changing nonprofits no more than twice per year to make a bigger difference for your nonprofit.

Are there restrictions on how organizations spend the donations they receives from Community Rewards?

All proceeds from Community Rewards must be for programs within Alaska, Idaho, Oregon or Washington.

Can a nonprofit organization register the Rewards Cards for everyone in his/her group?

No, each individual must enroll his or her Rewards card individually at fredmeyer.com/community rewards.

Do I need Internet access to link my Rewards Card to an organization?

Yes, the only way to enroll in Community Rewards is at fredmeyer.com/communityrewards.

For many years, my organization has received a donation from Fred Meyer. What will happen to that?

Fred Meyer Community Rewards will replace donation request forms for all but very small contributions that can be handled at store level – buns for a hot-dog fundraiser, for example. We hope that non-profits can fill their donation needs from Fred Meyer by participating in Community Rewards.

How much will my organization earn?

The donation you receive will depend how much your donors who have linked their Rewards Card to your nonprofit shop at Fred Meyer compared to other organizations’ donors.

  • Fred Meyer will award a total of $625,000 each quarter to eligible participating organizations.
  • The minimum quarterly payout is $25 per organization. If an organization earns less than $25 in a quarter, Fred Meyer will hold the amount until the donation exceeds $25 or the end of the year, whichever is first.

How will I know how much my organization is earning?

Fred Meyer will email you a statement with your organization’s earnings each quarter. There will not be a running tally during the quarter. The total amount awarded will depend on the total spend each quarter by all Customers whose Rewards Cards are linked to nonprofits.

Within 90 days of the end of the quarter, your organization will receive an email notifying you how much was earned through Community Reward as well as a donation check in the mail. Quarters end on March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31.

How will I receive the money each quarter?

You'll receive an email notifying you how much your organization earned as well as a check in the mail within 90 days of the end of the quarter.

It's critical you update any address or contact changes throughout the year. Please email updates to FMCommunityRewards@fredmeyer.com.

How do I ensure my nonprofit is part of Fred Meyer Community Rewards?

Please go to fredmeyer.com/communityrewards to sign up your organization. You must complete all fields in the online form, attach a 501(c)3 Tax Determination letter and agree to the programs’ Terms and Conditions. Within three weeks, you’ll receive a confirmation letter with your organization’s NPO number for the program and instructions on how your participants can sign up for Community Rewards.

How do my donors link their Rewards Card to my nonprofit?

Your donors can link their Rewards Card to your organization at fredmeyer.com/communityrewards. Enrolling is an easy process that’s clearly outlined on the site. Customers can begin earning donations for your non-profit when they shop at Fred Meyer using a linked Rewards Card. This is an ongoing program and Customers may enroll at any time.
